Today, I hand out envelopes with figurative language examples inside (representing similes, metaphors, onomatopoeias, double-negatives, and irony). You then formed pairs and worked through these, putting them in piles (I then checked them for accuracy).
Using “Jamie” as a guide on the overhead, we then analyzed “When the Tigers Broke Free” as a class (if you weren't here, use the "how to read poetry book you received yesterday).
I then handed out the poem “In the Flesh?” for the students to analyze on their own. We will discuss this one tomorrow.
